The Dover Road - Season Finale

Email Print PDF

After a busy season of entertaining, fund-raising and collecting donations for local organizations, the Blackhorse Village Players are set to launch their season finale, The Dover Road by A.A. Milne, which opens Friday, June 2 (preview May 30) and runs through to Saturday, June 16.

This sophisticated and somewhat mysterious comedy revolves around an illicit couple running away to the Dover/Calais ferry. Through unforeseen events they find themselves stranded outside a manor house and accept the owner's hospitality with unexpected results.

A portion of ticket sales from The Boys Next Door resulted in a $701 donation to Caledon's Peace Ranch. Shown are Cheryl Phillips, Eric Tripp-McKay and Michelle Lanoue.

Ann Smith, a seasoned actress of the community theatre stage, travels all the way from Collingwood to make her directorial debut at Blackhorse. The cast consists of familiar faces, returning past members, as well as some new talented locals.

With their 36th season coming to a close the Blackhorse Village Players would like gratefully acknowledge all the patrons who helped support other local organizations by attending the performances of The Wizard of Oz and The Boys Next Door. With the attendance from The Wizard of Oz (which was completely sold and held over for an extra performance) the theatre was able to donate plenty of food to the Caledon food bank with the overflow going to the Tottenham food bank.

With the support of patrons from The Boys Next Door (which received a Thea Award at the recent Act-Co Festival) Blackhorse was able to donate funds from a portion of the ticket sales and presented a cheque for $701 to Peace Ranch in Caledon.

The Blackhorse Village Players are already "chomping at the bit" to announce their 2007-2008 season. The line-up promises plenty of laughs with comedy and farce. Watch your mail box for a copy of the season subscription brochure or check the Web site at www.blackhorse. ca.
