The Association of Community Theatres of Central Ontario (ACT-CO) awards gala on Saturday April 4th, 2009 was very good to a local theatre group, the Blackhorse Village Players.

Chandra Mulder (of Everett) won Best Leading Actress in a Drama for her portrayal of Becca. The Best Production, Drama award was also awarded to Rabbit Hole. Producers Cheryl Lavigne (Keswick) and Cheryl Phillips (Tottenham) are ecstatic about this win and the cast and crew are incredibly proud of their work on this production. Other nominations for Rabbit Hole included: Harry Lavigne (Keswick) for Best Director, Drama, Larry Hines (Waterford) for Best Leading Actor in a Drama, Jo-Anne Pulfer (Tottenham) for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, and Rob Mather (Newmarket) for Best Lighting Design, Drama.

Rabbit Hole CastThe ACT-CO theatre festival celebrates community theatres across our region. With awards given in three categories: comedy, drama and musical, the productions can range from well-known commercial playwrights to unique Canadian and foreign perspectives, with many new and original works appearing side-by-side as equals. This year's festival saw over 40 productions compete for the THEA awards and the coveted prize of representing ACT-CO at the Theatre Ontario Festival in Ottawa May 13- 17, 2009.

Rabbit Hole AwardBlackhorse gladly accepted the honour of being this year’s selected production and will compete against 3 other productions at the annual Theatre Ontario Festival for the opportunity to represent Ontario at the National level. Theatre Ontario Festival showcases outstanding community theatre productions chosen from regional festivals across the province.  The festival brings together theatre lovers from across the province, and is an excellent learning experience, with adjudications, workshops, and play readings.
