TOTTENHAM - The spirit of Christmas is alive and well with the production of Dear Santa by Norm Foster at the Blackhorse Village Players Theatre.
When some spunky elves come on stage dancing to "We've got the Power," you can't help but smile and know you're in for some good wholesome comedy.
The storyline is well played with a business Scrooge named Algernon played by Craig Butler. Kim Christensen plays a very bubbly, fun loving maid, Octavia, and a traditional jolly old St. Nick is played by Paul Ferderico.
Santa's job might seem easy - the elves make all the gifts, he visits children to get their requests, has his naughty and nice list and he zooms around the world in a single night delivering all the toys for all the good girls and boys - but when you really think about it he's quite magical.
In between checking out the newest and latest in sleigh technology In Dear Santa, he tries to fill special personal wish lists and is still able to knows what's going on around him, even if others don't think he knows.
The elves all performed fantastic and heightened the spirit of the season with their great costumes and playful spirits, but Bozidar, played by Larry Hines stole the show, especially when he announced in a Russian accent, "I am clueless." The children in the audience just loved it.
Kids will enjoy the silliness of the characters, but the adults will get a chance to really think about rekindling their Christmas spirit during this festive holiday season.
The production runs Dec. 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12 at 8:15 p.m. with a matinee show on Dec. 6 at 2:15 p.m. For tickets, call the BVP box office at 905-880-5002.
